Hi, my name is Lisa Guthrie. I love teaching little ones to read! Because of my love for teaching reading, I created Happy Dogs! Mad Mama! books. I wanted to write stories that beginning readers would enjoy and teachers could use to teach important reading skills. As a teacher for over 20 years, I have seen reading change and grow children in so many wonderful ways! It was through my experience in working with young readers, that I knew that I wanted to write stories that would help children with important reading skills while being engaging and fun to read.

 

Meet Max and Charlie!

Max and Charlie are fun-loving and adventurous pups that are featured in all four of the books that I have written. With one book for each season, these humorous and entertaining stories are sure to delight readers of all levels. 
 

Teachers and parents are using these fun and easy to read stories in their classrooms and homes to help their children with important concepts such as, identifying setting, character, and plot, summarizing and retelling, compare and contrast, cause and effect, looking at the pictures for details, and more.
